Diaper Collection

If you have us collect your diapers, you naturally want to store them as well as possible until they're picked up, without unpleasant odors and with as little worry as possible.

Fortunately, there are different types and sizes of pails and bins for collecting diapers.

Every family and child is different, and naturally, everyone has their own preferences.

These are the points we consider when advising you on which pail(s) or bin(s) are most suitable for your situation:

  • How many diapers do you use per week in total?
  • How many diapers do you use per week per child?
  • Do you have the option of placing a pail or bin in a location accessible to us?
  • Do you share a bin with (in)direct neighbors?
  • Do you change your child(ren) in one place in the house or in multiple places?
    • If you change the children in multiple places, where do you do this?
For example, each in their own room, in the bathroom, or downstairs?

Most families in our collection area have one or two children in diapers.
Depending on the age and potty training of the children, each child goes through approximately 35 to 40 diapers per week.
Some families also have an older child who still sleeps in pajama pants or night diapers, which amounts to about 7 diapers per week.

Which diaper pail, and when?

Generally, it's best to use one pail per child or per changing station.
Choose a pail with sufficient capacity.

DiaperChamp Classic

If you simply want a practical pail that can hold many diapers, the DiaperChamp Classic is a handy pail.
The diaper can always be thrown at the top of the pail, so you always have one hand free to hold your baby.
The pail contains a pump that pushes air into the pail as the diaper falls. This ensures that odors are kept in the pail as much as possible.
This pail is mainly white and only offers the option of changing some accent colors (rings, handle, hinge, and lock).
The Classic model is available in sizes Regular (30 diapers), Medium (50 diapers), and Large (75 diapers). For the latter, you'll need larger bags!

The DiaperChamp pails can be left outside, but we recommend placing them under a shelter to prevent rainwater from seeping into the pail.
The diapers absorb the rainwater, but this makes the bag incredibly heavy!
It's also wise to lubricate the sealing ring(s) with some Vaseline. This prevents them from freezing and ensures a proper seal.

DiaperChamp One

A slightly nicer pail is the DiaperChamp One. This pail also has a built-in pump to keep odors contained.
Diapers can only be disposed of one way, so the lid must be open first.
The One model is available in Standard (30 to 40 diapers) and Maxi (60 diapers) sizes. The small version is available in various colors. The large version is only available in Silver, Clay, and White.
Hands-free pails are also available in both sizes, which have a foot pedal to open the lid.

We-Too

A popular pail due to its design and compact size is the We-Too diaper pail.
Due to its limited capacity and lack of an odor-control pump, it often becomes necessary to empty this pail several times a week.

Boomjoy / Housie

We also have a playful version of the We-Too pail.
This pail works practically the same way, except the diaper doesn't go all the way in the top, but at an angle above/in front.
The bottom of the pail has four legs, a bow under the opening, and two ears on top. This makes the pail look like a doll.
This pail is available in baby blue, baby pink, and white with gray accents (and a very limited dark blue with yellow accents).
This playful pail is fun to place in your child's (bath)room when they're potty-training and can put on and take off their diaper pants independently, or when they're still sleeping in pajama pants/night diapers.
It's a fun way to help with potty training, and for older children, it keeps their pajama pants out of sight of friends.

If you can place a bin outside or in a shared area accessible to us, you won't have to worry about it at all:
You don't have to be home when we collect the diapers. All you do is put the bag(s) from the diaper pail(s) into the bin when they are (almost) full (or on the day they are collected).

The storage bins are waterproof and not too large. You can leave them outside and, if desired, place them slightly out of sight.
Of course, you can also choose to share this bin with (in)direct neighbors.
